I love antiquing. There is nothing more I enjoy in the world than discovering the story of a long lost object hidden on a dusty shelf. My favorite types of antique shops are the ones without display cases: where you can pick up and involve yourself with the object. Looking at pieces behind glass feels more like a museum of things that are in "Mint condition! No paint chipping! Look at this lovely smile on this pretty little doll from 1943!" I like the dirty old things. The wear and tear they show depict the love that surround the object, or the difficulties it had to face.
I love photography. Taking pictures allows me to capture a moment and remember it with physical evidence. Never again will the lighting be quite the same, or will the wind lift the same pieces of hair. That moment will never happen again, but I captured it.
The combining of these two worlds allow me to document the journey I'm on, saving my moments for my children, my grandchildren, or a 21 year old artist in an antique shop looking for ideas in the year 2052.
Below are some of my works combine photography and my love of antiques.
